I figure this wouldn't be a bad way to introduce units to folks.
For those not in the know, units are battle companies. People you fight with and train with for events with unit battles, massive events like Rag and a place you can feel even MORE camaraderie when playing Dagorhir.
Some units are realm-specific (The Fallen of Kanthea), some are multi-realm and stick with a particular theme (Rome), some are less specific and have a general theme behind them (bad guys of 'The Militia')
We have a few units in our realm of Stormhaven, particularly Legion of *Dragoons (the elite heavy infantry unit and includes Elik and Ematai) and The Defenders of the Land (support unit, with emphasis in archery which includes Spoons, Brevin, and myself)
Units can have any number of people in them, but to be nationally recognized, it must have at least 5 active members. And you can pretty much run with it. There are many established groups that fill particular niches, but if somebody doesn't have something that you like you could totally be The Dragon-hunters of X-Realm. Or the Dread Knights. Or whatever!
Many groups opt to have titles and ranks. Some are achievements that take practice and testing others ranks and titles involve doing something for a group (for example building community weapons or a flag for your unit to use)
If you have any questions about joining these units or finding other groups in Indiana (AKA The Land Between Lands) feel free to ask any of the Dragoons or Defenders and they might point you in the right direction.
