Honestly, it's something I've really thought about. Everyone's got their own ideas in dag, and everyone's always fighting for different reasons.
Why not ask yourself this question, "Why am I a dag fighter, and what are my reasons?"
I, personally have to say I'm a Dag fighter because I enjoy it for the simple parts, fighting with people for the fun of it, the simple joy of crafting weapons to use, either myself or by others, camping out and enjoying comradeship with people that have the same interests. There's probably more reasons, but those really stick out first.
Friend of mine, Bonecrusher, who passed away was a dag fighter, never would have been the best fighter because of his weight, but that didn't matter to him. He still loved dag because it was fun, and let him socialize with people, and gave him access to a lot of friends. Again, truly the "small" things in dag is what attracted him towards it.
